Social Worker - Fostering

Job Introduction

Staffordshire has a strong commitment to providing quality Foster Placements, Adoption Placements, Connected Persons Placements and Special Guardianship Placements for our children in care.  We are also committed to ongoing development and innovation. 

Fostering, Permanency & SGO Support Team is a Countywide team that provides support to carers residing in Staffordshire. The team is a stable team and has the benefit of experienced staff.

Main Responsibility

Your duties will include undertaking assessments and where required, completing support plans for Special Guardians, providing duty cover on a rota basis and providing practical support to Special Guardians. This will include private applicant carers, mainstream foster carers, independent fostering agency families, and family and friend’s foster carers.

The fostering service has a commitment to stability of placements, safeguarding children and promoting capacity to provide sufficient placements to meet the needs of children not in care, in our care and post care. You will support these commitments in your role. Close liaison is maintained with children’s teams and others involved in the team around fostered children and children living in permanent arrangements to ensure good outcomes for children.

The Ideal Candidate

You’ll need to be a:

  • Qualified Social Worker
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Have a current UK driving licence and vehicle.

Above all, you’ll bring the desire to work with children and families to give them the right support, at the right time with the aim of keeping families together where it’s safe to do so.
