Job Introduction

Our Team:

Business Support is key to the success of our Adult Social Care and Safeguarding Services to ensure services run smoothly, so that our frontline colleagues can deliver our services out in the community.

We support Adult Social Care operational teams across a range of services including the Appointee Service, Safeguarding, First Contact, and Adult Learning Disabilities Teams.  Our role is to provide dedicated administrative support working closely with our Operational Team Managers and our Social Work Practitioners enabling them to concentrate on the people who need our support.  Our Business Support role aims to have a positive impact on people across Staffordshire.

Main Responsibility

About the role:

We are looking to appoint a Senior Administrator within the Staffordshire County Council Appointee Service, based at 1 Staffordshire Place, Stafford.

The role will be responsible for application & collection of DWP benefits, arrangements for paying expenses including utility bills, care contributions and personal weekly allowance to maintain a person’s financial health, safety & wellbeing.

You will use departmental databases and systems and the full range of Microsoft packages as part of your daily administrative work.

The main duties will include:

  • Use of online financial systems to process payments in accordance with financial regulations & audit requirements
  • Maintaining and monitoring ICT systems including the input and retrieval of data
  • Producing high level, accurate documents
  • Varied administrative and customer care duties

The Ideal Candidate

What you’ll bring:

Working within Business Support requires teamwork, good organisational skills and a good level of competency using IT systems.

You’ll also need:

  • Good communication skills as you will be expected to interact with people across the organisation and externally via phone, in person and email
  • Experience in financial transactions in line with financial procedures and audit requirements
  • A flexible approach to work as sometimes things can change, and you will need to be able to prioritise work and sometimes reorganise tasks quickly
  • A passion to always give the best service

The role will support the whole of the Appointee Service so there may be a requirement to work from other offices, when required.  We are, however, currently working both from the office and remotely and it is anticipated that this will continue.
