Job Introduction
Main Responsibility
In this role you will be responsible for:
- ensuring all HWRCs are being operated and maintained in a safe and professional manner, in accordance with their Environmental Permit, Planning Permissions and councils’ procedures.
- controlling and co-ordinating the safe and efficient operation of the HWRC sites.
- Promoting and enforcing the need to maximise recycling levels across all Centres.
- managing subordinate staff and day-to-day operations including staff rotas, induction of new employees/temporary labour and/or visitors to site, employee relations issues and identification of employee training requirements.
- ensuring that all plant and equipment at the Centres are safe, appropriate and maintained in accordance with all health and safety regulations, as well as ensure that all daily checks and records are carried out.
- ensuring that all site personnel are wearing issued uniforms and the correct PPE at all times.
- promoting high profile helpful, courteous and professional customer service practices.
The Ideal Candidate
You will have :
- A Certificate of technical competence in Hazardous Waste Transfer (NVQ Level4)
- Supervisory skills and experience of managing/supervising multi sites
- Working knowledge of health and safety legislation and operations
- Flexible approach to duties, willing to learn and be trained
- Good verbal and written communication skills – to facilitate inductions, training and communication with site staff, management, clients, contractors and the public
- Strong numerical and literacy skills and paperwork and recording skills
- An understanding of recycling and recyclable materials is an advantage
- Trained First Aider, or willing and capable of being trained
- A Full UK driving licence
- Experience in operating a above 10ton 360 wheeled excavator.
- Experience in the operation of Household waste recycling centres (HWRC'S)
