We are currently seeking a Head of People Solutions to lead a team of subject matter experts in developing and promoting strategic initiatives that align with our organisation's values and People Strategy.
As the Head of People Solutions, you will be responsible for creating a Centre of Excellence for People Solutions, championing Staffordshire County Council's People Strategy, and working closely with senior leaders and stakeholders to ensure a proactive approach to diversity, inclusion and employee engagement.
You will play a critical role in shaping and designing the continuing evolution of our strategy, whilst making a significant contribution to the effective leadership of People Services.

As a member of the Council’s Operational Management Team, you will have the chance to contribute to our wider organisational goals and make a positive difference to the people of Staffordshire.
Main Responsibility
You'll be working closely with and influence senior stakeholders to lead, promote, and shape the People Strategy creating a vision and delivering the Employee Value Proposition for the Council. You will develop a high performing Centre of Expertise for the Council's strategic people agenda, responsible for providing expert advice and guidance, challenge and support to managers on Strategic People issues.
You'll also:
- Lead on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion developing strategies to support the council to develop an inclusive and welcoming culture.
- Lead on the creation of a unique employer brand aligned to the council’s vision and values and liaise closely with the Head of Communications to lead and shape the council’s internal engagement strategy.
- Act as expert advisor to senior leaders on all strategic People related initiatives and shape senior leadership thinking by acting as a change agent providing a people centred and cross-organisational perspective.
- Provide a business focussed strategic consultancy service that provides professional HR & OD expertise to all managers across the council.
- Lead and develop a high performing Centre of Expertise for the council’s strategic people agenda.
The Ideal Candidate
You will need to demonstrate experience in producing and specifying HR & OD interventions that prove to have substantial business benefits in a high performing organisation.
Additionally, this role will require you to possess a fundamental understanding of the impact of organisational culture on engagement and performance, thorough knowledge of the challenges facing the public sector and Staffordshire County Council, and commercial awareness.
You'll be leading a team of subject matter experts across the employee lifecycle with a particular focus on creating an Employer Brand, Strategic Resourcing, Recruitment, Reward, Learning and Development, Organisational Development, Data, and Insight.
Furthermore, you will be leading multiple projects, managing an extensive workload, and conflicting demands.
You will need to be confident in influencing strategic discussions and decision making, including the development of business plans with a particular focus on strategic people implications.
