Financial Affairs Service - Administrator

Job Introduction

Our Team:

The Financial Affairs Service plays a key role within Adult Social Care & Safeguarding by supporting vulnerable people who lack the mental capacity to manage their own finances by acting as court appointed Deputy or Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) approved Appointee. The services aims to enhance the wellbeing of our customers whilst keeping them safe from financial abuse and ensuring their independence and choice are maintained.

Main Responsibility

About the role:

We are looking to appoint an Administrator within the Financial Affairs Service, based at 1 Staffordshire Place, Stafford.

The role will be responsible for application and collection of DWP benefits, arrangements for paying expenses including utility bills, care contributions and personal weekly allowance to maintain a person’s financial health, safety & wellbeing.

You will use departmental databases and systems and the full range of Microsoft packages as part of your daily administrative work.

The main duties will include:

  • Use of online financial systems to process payments in accordance with financial regulations & audit requirements
  • Maintaining and monitoring ICT systems including the input and retrieval of data
  • Producing high level, accurate documents
  • Varied administrative and customer care duties

The Ideal Candidate

What you’ll bring:

Working within The Financial Affairs Service requires teamwork, good organisational skills and a good level of competency using IT systems.

You’ll also need:

  • Good communication skills as you will be expected to interact with people across the organisation and externally via phone, in person and email.
  • Experience in financial transactions in line with financial procedures and audit requirements.
  • A flexible approach to work as sometimes things can change, and you will need to be able to prioritise work and sometimes reorganise tasks quickly.
  • A passion to always give the best service.

The role will support the whole of the Financial Affairs Service so there may be a requirement to work from other offices, when required. We are, however, currently working both from the office and remotely and it is anticipated that this will continue.
