Job Introduction
This role sits within the Highways Asset Management team, within our Economy, Infrastructure and Skills directorate.
Asset Management underpins all activities on the network ensuring whole life planning is considered at every stage of development. The team is responsible for designing, scheduling and supervising preventative and structural maintenance schemes, monitoring highway condition data and maintaining the Highways Base Specification.
Main Responsibility
You will be working closely with the Senior and Project Engineers to use your knowledge and skills to monitor activity at highway maintenance construction sites and use your judgement to provide advice, and apply amendments, controls or restrictions to work carried out in order to ensure compliance with the Staffordshire Highways Specification.
Reporting into the Asset Management Team you will maintain precise and accurate records of works carried out while instructing remedial repairs or additional testing to ensure all works carried out provide best value and meet the highest standards.
The Ideal Candidate
You should possess excellent inter-personal and customer service skills, be a highly motivated, self-starter with a drive to succeed, demonstrating a positive ‘can do’ attitude. You will be able to deal with a range of issues and conflicting demands whilst adhering to relevant legislation and delivering to tight deadlines and keeping calm under pressure.
What you’ll have:
- Previous experience in monitoring on-site works and applying highway specifications
- Experience of dealing with road works on the public highway
- Ability to interrogate data and make recommendations
- Full UK driving licence
