Business Support Officer (Statutory Services)

Job Introduction

This role sits within our busy Business and Executive Support team where you’ll play a key role in ensuring a consistent high-level of business support across the organisation.

We are a team of 30, split across two sites in Uttoxeter and Burton. This role will be based in Burton.

We support a number of teams within the Children and Families Service whose mission is to create an environment where families are supported to stay together safely and live well in their communities.

It's a varied role and no two days are the same so we always have to be ready to adapt when demands change.

Main Responsibility

Some of your main responsibilities will include,

  • Providing administrative support to managers across a range of departments
  • Attending and providing support at meetings including child protection conferences, from circulating agendas and papers, scheduling and diary management to taking and distributing notes
  • Accurately inputting and maintaining confidential information to ensure children’s, families and staff system records are kept up to date
  • Carrying out a range of financial transactions using the council’s finance systems  including cash handling, placing orders for services/equipment, goods receipting on in accordance with financial regulations
  • Monitoring and maintaining financial records

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who,

  • Has GCSE English and Maths grade C or 4 or equivalent and Level III in Business Administration or equivalent experience
  • Can interpret and accurately input and retrieve data 
  • Has experience of providing administrative support at meetings including note taking
  • Has good written and oral communication skills at all levels – this post will involve liaising with a range of professionals and members of the public
  • Has sensitive and attentive listening skills and able to accurately record the outcome of discussions and meetings 
  • Has a flexible approach and able to respond positively to changes in allocation of work at short notice
  • Has numerical skills with attention to detail
  • Has good time management and organisational skills with an ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and on own initiative
