Job Introduction

Opportunities have arisen for 2 Youth Justice, Early Help & Prevention Worker(s) to be seconded into our busy, supportive, and enthusiastic Youth Justice, Early Help and Prevention team within Staffordshire Youth Offending Service.

The opportunities have come along at a pivotal time for Staffordshire Youth Offending Service as we continue to drive forward the Earliest Help and Youth Crime Prevention agenda across the County to try and keep children and young people out of the criminal justice system.

Staffordshire Youth Offending Prevention team provides a first-class service to children, young people, their parents/carers, and other stakeholders, we aim to prevent offending, build public confidence, and keep children out of the criminal justice system.

Main Responsibility

As an Early Help, Youth Justice and Prevention Worker, your role will span individual, group, family, and community work in a range of settings. Working holistically with children who are on the cusp of entering the criminal justice system, you will work to understand what the daily lived experience of those children who are referred into the YOS Prevention Service. Because our service is based on consent and working on a voluntary basis, your skills to engage children and families will be utilised effectively to assess, plan , do and review in order to try and effect change and deliver positive outcomes.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for individuals to work closely with colleagues from the  Prevention team  who contribute in  keeping children and young people out of the Criminal Justice system which in turn will provide that support to improve outcomes for children, young people, their families, and the wider community.

A Child First and contextualised safeguarding approach underpins the work of the Youth Justice Early Help and Prevention Service using the Outcome Star – Teenstar assessment to identify areas of need.
