Job Introduction
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Young Carers Assessor to join our team.
This role is pivotal in providing a clear point of contact for young carers and the individuals they care for, reducing the need for carers to repeat their stories. You will play a crucial role in identifying young carers who may not recognise themselves as such but seek support for those who depend on them.
We are dedicated to providing a single point of contact for carers of all ages. Our mission is to offer comprehensive information, advice, and guidance to carers, ensuring they receive the support they need. Our Adult Social Care First Contact Team engages carers in assessments as per the Care Act 2014 and the Children & Families Act 2014.
Main Responsibility
You will:
- Conduct asset-based assessments under the Care Act and Children and Families Act.
- Build relationships with young carers and their support circles to promote positive expectations.
- Engage with individuals, families, and professionals to understand needs and strengths and collaborate with other professionals to enable individuals to achieve their outcomes.
- Analyse information to understand risks and develop strategies to manage them.
- Maintain detailed records of assessments and key discussions.
- Use research findings and peer discussions to inform your practice.
- Contribute to the improvement and promotion of Adult Social Care and support for all-age carers.
The Ideal Candidate
You will have:
- Some understanding of the legislative and policy context of services for adults (Care Act) and the Children and Families Act, including findings from enquiries.
- Experience working with carers, especially young carers.
- Experience in conducting assessments and risk assessments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to be compassionate and empathetic.
- Ability to work collaboratively with carers and other stakeholders.
Interviews will be held on the morning of the 30th September and afternoon of the1st October.
