The Wombourne Centre has four meeting rooms of various sizes used by an array of groups from the community, as well as housing the library.

We see our role as more of a vocation, supporting community well-being and providing a much-needed service to existing and new library customers.

The post is a job-share vacancy, working an average of 16 hours per week on a two-week work pattern (see shift pattern below)

Main Responsibility

You will have responsibility of the day-to-day operational delivery of the library service. This covers: 

  • shared line manager responsibility for 4 library assistants, ensuring as a team you deliver a high standard of customer service. 
  • working with local groups and partners to encourage and support maximum use of community facilities. 
  • engaging with the local community to understand local needs, and prioritise those needs in service delivery. 
  • ensuring the smooth running of administration and financial functions within library and community centre responsibilities. 
  • carrying out premises management duties in relation to health and safety, building maintenance and compliance works. 

You will also deliver training and effective support to your team to enable them to meet the demands of their role and always ensure a positive customer experience.

What you’ll bring

You must be:

  • a positive, consistent leader, motivating the team to work to the best of their ability and maximising performance.
  • an effective organiser, ensuring the effective deployment of staff and resources within the library and the wider district.
  • empathetic, providing a customer focussed service, helping people make connections with other services and partner organisations. 
  • ambitious, enthusiastic and proactive person with great customer service skills together with experience of managing or supervising other people.
  • confident and calm person with integrity and the imagination to help the service move forward, together with experienced of premises management

You may be required to adjust your timetable at times to cover absences of team members, for example, and so would suit someone with the availability and flexibility to accommodate this.

Shift Pattern

Week 1 - 13 hours 

Monday 9.00-1.00pm  (4 Hours)

Wednesday 9.00-1.00pm and 2pm-7pm (9 hours)

Week 2 -  19 hours 

Monday 9.00-1.00pm  (4 hours)

Wednesday 9.00-1.00pm  and 2pm-7pm (9 hours)

Saturday 9.00-1.00pm  and 2pm-4pm (6 hours)
