Waste Minimisation Project Support Officer

Job Introduction

Are you a dynamic, self-motivated individual with a successful record in community engagement and Waste Management? We are seeking a collaborative and flexible individual who will support the development of waste minimisation, behavioural change and community engagement opportunities across Staffordshire. 

This is a full-time position, with the requirement to occasionally work during the evenings and weekends, where necessary. 

Main Responsibility

Working in a fast-paced environment the post holder will be responsible for:

  • The co-ordination of the waste volunteer scheme
  • Hosting or attending events around the County to raise awareness of climate change and waste management
  • Developing and delivering an education and waste minimisation programme to schools across Staffordshire 
  • Preparing publicity and communication materials, including a monthly newsletter, to promote the reduction of waste across the County, and re-use and recycling

The Ideal Candidate

The collaborative nature of the work requires excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, self-starter with a drive to succeed and a positive ‘can do’ attitude. The broad scope of the role requires a results-focused approach, supported by well-developed analytical skills and creative thinking.

What you'll bring:

  • Effective presentation skills, pitching informative talks to a range of audiences 
  • The ability to develop successful working relationships with a host of internal and external partners
  • Capability to work within deadlines, with strong organisational skills 
  • A passion for waste management and climate change, with a strong knowledge of the waste hierarchy and upcoming legislative changes
