An exciting opportunity to join the Cannock Chase team, working on a site with an abundance of wildlife and historic heritage.
The Visitor Engagement Officer will lead the visitor centre operation at Marquis Drive to ensure the visitor centre is a friendly, welcoming and informative space.
The role is a diverse mix of work areas. These include; managing the visitor engagement assistant and volunteers, the small retail offer, running a range of visitor facing engagement events, booking activities, administration including room hire, working with partners, managing health and safety including building checks, working with contractors and financial reporting.
It is an exciting time for the visitor experience at Cannock Chase, as we are at the start of a £10million investment project to improve our visitor facilities. The Visitor Engagement Officer will help shape this project as it progresses over the next few years.
The role would suit someone friendly and outgoing with customer service and visitor engagement experience in the heritage sector. Public communications is key, as you will be the face of Cannock Chase Country Park.
Weekend and bank holiday working is part of the role to provide a visitor centre experience during the busiest footfall times.
Main Responsibility
Some of the things you will do are:
- Day to day running the visitor centre.
- Managing the visitor engagement assistant and volunteers, including work rotas.
- Manging the small retail offer .
- Running a range of visitor facing engagement activities, booking events and activities.
- Administration including room hire.
- Working with partners.
- Managing health and safety including building checks.
- Cash handling and financial reporting.
The Ideal Candidate
The role would suit someone friendly and outgoing with customer service and visitor engagement experience in the nature or heritage sector.
You will have experience of:
- Visitor engagement and managing visitor / conference facilities.
- Organising and running public events.
- Producing visitor information and interpretation.
- Managing staff and/or volunteers.
- Health and safety procedures.
- Basic financial management, sales and cash handling.
