We are looking for new people to join the Connectivity Strategy Team to help us shape the future transport network in Staffordshire. Local transport has a huge impact on people’s lives and is at the heart of the decarbonisation, active travel and economic growth agendas. You will be part of a growing team that is involved in collecting and analysing transport and GIS data, monitoring Travel Plans, writing a new Local Transport Plan for Staffordshire, and helping to deliver transport schemes on the ground.
Main Responsibility
If you have knowledge and experience in transport planning and data analysis and are enthusiastic about promoting the sustainable transport agenda, this job will help you to progress your career.
You will be:
- Inputting into the production of the Local Transport Plan and transport funding bids
- Providing transport planning advice and support to the Council and external organisations, including local planning authorities in the development of their Local Plans, monitoring Travel Plans and other planning functions.
- Assisting in transport projects, ensuring they meet the required outcomes and deadlines.
- Application and advice on GIS analysis techniques and other accessibility planning software.
- Analysis of transport data and the preparation of reports including trend analysis and data limitations.
- Responding to transport planning related correspondence, in line with the Council’s policy position on transport.
The Ideal Candidate
The minimum criteria for the role is:
- Education to degree standard
or
- A levels / BTEC Level 3 qualifications in a relevant discipline and experience in a transport planning environment
- Demonstrable experience and application of knowledge in supporting development of transport strategies
- Experience in the application of analytical transport planning/GIS analysis techniques
- Experience in the analysis and interpretation of data
- Understanding of the Local Plan process
- Understanding of the role of Local Government
- Experience participating in multi-disciplinary teams
