Strategic Finance Business Partner

Job Introduction

Staffordshire County Council is a large authority with an excellent track record for delivering savings and is proud of its reputation for good financial management and planning.

We are looking for someone to join our team at a senior level, to help us maintain and enhance our business partnering function. Working closely with the Assistant Director of Finance and other senior colleagues, you will help to lead the Decision Making Support team to ensure financial strategies are implemented and that financial resources are managed appropriately.

You will have an office base in Stafford, and we currently operate hybrid working, so there is flexibility for you to work from home, subject to service requirements.

Main Responsibility

You will be required to:

  • Support the development of the strategic budget setting and quarterly budget monitoring processes for a directorate(s)
  • Lead the provision of strategic financial insight in shaping organisational strategy
  • Accountable as the 'finance expert' to oversee the senior finance business partners role in cross functional working groups and Project Boards
  • Lead, motivate and inspire a team of finance business partners, accountants and financial information officers
  • Deputise for the Assistant Director of Finance as required

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is CCAB qualified with experience of business partnering desirable
  • Has experience of formulating and implementing financial strategies in conjunction with others and monitoring progress against cost savings as part of the Medium Term Financial Strategy
  • Can build strong working relationships with the ability to influence internal and external partner stakeholders at a senior leadership team level, offering challenge where required
