Social Media Content Creator

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Job Introduction

Are you a creative storyteller with a passion for social media?

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our communications team as a content creator. We're looking for someone who can use their creativity and storytelling skills to create engaging and shareable content to help us connect with people in Staffordshire and make a real difference to people's lives.

You'll be part of a talented team of people, reporting to our Social Media Manager and working across the Comms Team, and organisation. This is a new role for us, and we are really ambitious about what we want to achieve - we have loads for you to get stuck in to!

Main Responsibility

You will be our lead content creator - you'll be responsible for developing and executing content strategies for our social media channels as well as creating high-quality content that is visually appealing and informative, including videos, photos, and graphics.

Your content will be seen by external and internal audiences, so you will make sure all our content is on brand and in the appropriate style, representing the council and being right for the channels we're using. And you'll work with the wider comms team to help them develop quality content for campaigns and media that's relevant, accurate, and on brand.

We want to drive engagement and develop our following, so you will also be involved in evaluation of content performance and reporting that to leaders in the team and council senior leaders, too.

The Ideal Candidate

As well as a creative, innovative, ambitious communicator, you'll have:

  • A great understanding of social media, best practice, and experience of managing channels and building audiences.
  • Experience of writing and editing, using plain English, and creating effective copy for content.
  • Video and photography skills, including editing using tools such as Adobe Premier, Photoshop, and InDesign, and be able to adapt your style to various channels and audiences.
  • High standards, an eye for detail, and be able to work quickly and accurately.

As this role will involve getting out and about across the county, we also need someone who is willing and able to travel to capture content of people and places around Staffordshire.
