Senior Business Support Officer

Job Introduction

As part of the Business & Executive Support Team within Corporate Services supporting the Children & Families service, the post holder will ensure that a high level of business support is provided to the service whilst maintaining flexibility to meet fluctuations in demand within existing resources.  This post will be responsible for managing a team of business support staff across various functions and will include performance, financial and staff management duties.

We are looking for a person with demonstrable interpersonal skills and strong communication skills, who has the relevant management experience and is looking for a challenging, busy but rewarding role.  Someone who has an innovative approach to change and is able to progress digital advancements in the way we work within the service. The post holder will be required to work with senior officers within the various service departments to ensure that business support arrangements are as efficient and innovative as possible in delivering cost effective streamlined processes.

Main Responsibility

  • Ensures consistent high-level business support across the organisation
  • Flexible and able to meet fluctuations in demand within existing resources
  • Clearly defines the relationship between business support and the services; maximising the potential and skills of support staff.
  • Supports Elected Members, the Chief Executive, Senior Leadership Team, Wider Leadership Team and the Operational Management Team in developing the Council’s Priorities and Strategies
  • Facilitates effective member/officer working relationships, ensuring both Members and Senior Officers are fully briefed to allow informed decisions to be made and good governance followed.
  • As a corporate function, ensure all governance processes and procedures are followed across the whole organisation and timescales met for the publication of information.

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Administrative skills and experience to support the provision of a timely and high-quality Business Support service for Staffordshire County Council.
  • Ability and experience in taking accurate minutes for multi-agency meetings.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage our customers and administration teams to share best practise using digital solutions where appropriate to improve processes.
  • An ability to work in a fast-paced, busy environment, and to manage changes at short notice.
  • Good IT skills and experience of utilising software packages (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, etc)
  • with a knowledge of SCC systems for data management.
  • Experience complying with relevant Information, Privacy and Data Security policies.
