Our Skills and Employability Teams purpose is to improve people’s lives through learning and training, leading to employment.
We are committed to increasing the number of high quality supported internships and other employment pathways for young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) in the area as part of the new Department for Education initiative, ‘Internships Work’.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a project that will widen the routes for young people with SEND into paid employment in Staffordshire.
This new role, will bring together employers, parents, young people, education providers and other partners in Staffordshire to achieve this aim by raising aspirations, identifying more employer opportunities and supporting quality improvement.
Main Responsibility
An enthusiastic ambassador for young people with SEND, you will
- Have a passion for enabling young people with SEND to achieve their full potential
- You will support the SEND Employment Forum in the development, co-ordination, delivery and monitoring of its SEND Employment Action Plan.
This is a Fixed Term Contract until 31/3/2025
The Ideal Candidate
We would love to hear from you if you have:
- An understanding of young people and adults with SEND needs
- Experience and understanding of supported internship development and delivery
- A good working knowledge of the SEND reforms in particular preparation for adulthood and routes to employment
- A good working knowledge of MS Office
- The ability to build effective working relationships across a wide range of people and organisations
