Job Introduction
About the role
The LADO service is a small team which provides advice and guidance to employers, individuals and organisations who have concerns relating to adults who work with children in a paid or voluntary capacity where their behaviour may have harmed a child or otherwise suggests they are unsuitable to work with children. The role is defined in Working Together to Safeguard Children (DfE 2023) in respect of managing allegations against people in positions of trust.
The post holder will also provide the Local Authorities Duty to Cooperate responsibilities in support of Staffordshire’s Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) in minimising the harm posed to the public by sexual and violent offenders.
Main Responsibility
Ensuring that the Local Authority fulfils its obligations for managing allegations against staff and volunteers working with children in any setting within Staffordshire LA. Being compliant with the requirements of Working Together 2023; the Education Act 2002, and Keeping Children Safe in Education 2021, other relevant legislation including the Children Act 1989, and the Children Act 2004, and Staffordshire Local Procedures.
To provide the Local Authority contribution to multi agency public protection panels, MAPPA arrangements under the duty to cooperate.
The Ideal Candidate
What you’ll bring
You will be a qualified and experienced Social Worker with a commitment to high quality services for children and families and have considerable experience of effective multi agency working with partner agencies at operational and strategic levels. You will have a good understanding of Public Protection and a wealth of experience working in and managing child safeguarding services. The post holder will have a comprehensive working knowledge of legislation and statutory guidance including awareness of contemporary themes such as contextual safeguarding.
The post is located within the multi agency safeguarding hub, MASH which gives an opportunity for effective partnership working within a fast moving and vibrant environment.
