Resilience Foster Carer

Job Introduction

Resilience Foster Care is a highly specialised service that focuses on supporting children to move from residential homes into intensively supported foster care.

As a Resilience Foster Carer we can offer you a rewarding fostering career where you can continue to develop professionally whilst making a difference to a child’s life.

Salary: Between - £37,495-£40,527 per annum depending on the age of the child you are matched with.

We currently have 11 children living in residential care who are awaiting a home, all of whom can live within a fostering household.

Main Responsibility

Resilience foster carers support children who currently live in residential care to move into their family home and care for them long-term.

As a Resilience foster carer your role is to build on the resilience of a young person by offering them a secure base where they can build secure attachments and begin to thrive.

Children who are moving out of residential care may have a range of difficulties and you will need to provide them with lots of support, only one foster child will live with a family at any one time.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for people who can demonstrate that they have significant experience of working with vulnerable children who have social, emotional and/or mental health difficulties.

Other skills and experience needed

  • At least one carer needs to be available full-time for the young person.
  • Be able to work with a wide range of professionals
  • You will preferably have a background within one of the following sectors- Health, Social Work, Teaching, Police, Probation, or Youth Work.
  • Have no dependent children under the age of 16 living in the household.
  • Solo applicants are welcomed.

We understand that fostering children who have social, emotional and/or mental health difficulties can be challenging. Our foster carers receive a generous support and financial package and have regular built in short breaks.

  • Your payment begins at point of approval and covers the matching and introduction period. 
  • You will have built in, regular, planned short breaks with a matched specialist carer.
  • Continuous professional development through training opportunities.
  • We will provide a bespoke training package to meet the needs of the fostering household which is delivered flexibly both in person and on-line.
  • Your own Fostering Social Worker who will be there to supervise, support and advise you and an experienced foster carer as a mentor
  • 24/7 out of hours support 365 days a year
  • A Fostering senior support worker to support you and your young person pre and post transition,
  • Resilience Fostering Support Group who meet monthly.
  • You will have a Psychological Assessment to support with the matching process and carefully planned introductions.
  • You will receive free membership to the Fostering Network 
  • We offer paid mileage and additional allowances for a child's birthday, before the main school holidays and for Christmas or other religious holiday.
