Residential Worker (nights)

Join us in Staffordshire to work with our children, young people, and families. 

Our specialist teams support children and young people across Staffordshire and we are currently seeking talented individuals to join our residential home in Tamworth. 

We are committed to providing the best care and support and fostering lifelong relationships with our children. Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy are at the core of our approach within our staff teams and in supporting children. 

The home is supported by an experienced management team and there are opportunities for professional development. 

The home operates on a shift / rota basis and includes evenings and weekends and where needed sleep in duties.

Please note: Due to recent changes in legislation (effective 22 July 2025), this role is not eligible for sponsorship.

These roles are Fixed Term initially for 12 months

Main Responsibility

In this role you'll :

  • work within the children's home, supporting a young person with complex emotional, behavioural needs.
  • Work on a shift / rota basis including evenings and weekends.
  • Work as part of a team providing emotional and practical care and support.
  • engage in 1:1 sessions addressing emotions and behaviours, collaborating and liaising with the management team and other professionals to ensure the best opportunities and outcomes.  
  • Engage in regular supervision sessions. 
  • Complete mandatory training and additional training to enhance your practice and professional development.

  • Resilience – Some days will be tough, for our children, for you, and for your colleagues - we're after someone who is dedicated and committed, and who will always go that extra mile for our children (even on the bad days).  Working as part of a close professional team is really important and you will need to be a team player to get through those tough times. Our ideal candidate will have experience of working within a residential setting with young people who have complex needs and a knowledge of trauma informed practice.

you'll also have:

  • an understanding of reporting and recording within Children's Home Regulations. 
  • Preferably, have a current UK driving licence as you will be required to drive a mini van in order to transport young people. 
  • ICT skills - to include Microsoft packages and Outlook. 
  • an NVQ Level 3 / 4 in Children's Residential care is desirable, or you must be willing to work towards this qualification.

Interviews are scheduled to take place week commencing 12.01.2026 and will be in person where possible however there is some scope for interviews to take place remotely. 

Please note: In line with Schedule 2 this role is regulated by Ofsted so it a requirement that we obtain FULL employment history, from leaving secondary school. Please ensure that this is completed on your application as this will be discussed with you should you be invited to interview
