An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Insight Team in the role of Research Manager, on a 12 month secondment or fixed term basis. This senior role will be a strategic expert in insight, ensuring high quality, strategic insight is used to shape strategy and decision making, both at the County Council and across Staffordshire.
This post is being offered as a fixed term or internal secondment until 7th February 2025.
Interviews will take place on Thursday 4th January 2024.
Main Responsibility
This role is central to improving the organisation's strategic approach to insight, with the aim of improving outcomes for the people of Staffordshire.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the Insight Team within Corporate Services. They will develop and manage the Insight Team to deliver a high quality strategic insight work programme to both the organisation and Staffordshire partnership. This includes providing direction, support and professional development to the team.
The role will ensure the Insight Team has positive relationships across the organisation and with public sector partners, to champion the use of data and insight, to inform decision making and outcomes.
Working closely with the Head of Policy and Insight, and in collaboration with key stakeholders across the organisation, the successful candidate will continue to deliver and evolve the organisation's approach to Integrated Performance, ensuring this adds value and insight into the Council's operations.
In addition, the role will be responsible for developing the organisation's approach to citizen engagement and delivering a range of corporate engagement activities aligned to this.
The Ideal Candidate
With further information in the Job Description, the ideal candidate will bring:
- Strong management skills and a breadth of experience working in collaboration with key stakeholders, including senior managers and partners.
- Extensive knowledge of a range of insight tools and techniques, including qualitative and quantitative, statistical techniques and methodologies.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Experience of presenting complex research findings to a diverse audience.
- A keen interest in driving forward innovations in data and insight to help address key challenges and improve outcomes for Staffordshire’s residents.
- Understand the role of insight in a large, complex, diverse public sector organisation.
