If you are a creative communicator looking for a new challenge to make an impact in internal communications, we have a great opportunity for you.  

We are recruiting for two internal communications roles: one permanent position covering all of Staffordshire County Council and its 4,000+ workforce, and one on a 12-month fixed term, specialising in supporting comms for our Children and Families directorate.

Reporting to the Senior Internal Communications Officer and part of the award-winning Communications Team, these roles are at the core of internal communications at Staffordshire County Council.

You’ll be joining a team of talented people who are dedicated to effective, impactful communication and finding innovative ways to connect with our audiences.

Main Responsibility

Never a dull day, there's a broad scope of internal comms work to be done, and loads of demand from across the council. You will produce and deliver engaging content for our internal comms channels, including video, newsletter, and intranet copy.

You’ll also help plan and deliver internal events that connect our audiences with senior leaders, members, and each other.

And, you'll keep an eye on how our content is performing and feed into our internal comms strategy and plans with the findings from evaluation. 

There are lots of opportunities to work with departments across the council, particularly colleagues in HR and Organisational Development. You’ll give advice and guidance to people at all levels of the council, right up to Chief Executive.

 

The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for great communicators with the right blend of skills, experience, and personality to fit with our talented team.

The ideal candidate:

  • experienced in internal communications and engagement.
  • understands the challenges of communicating in a large public sector organisation.
  • knows about the power of insight and can use research to drive objective-led campaigns and content.
  • excellent language skills, able to write clear and compelling content in plain English.
  • great digital skills, confident with recording and editing video and audio.
  • creative and innovative, seeking new ways to connect with internal audiences, and keep on top of trends and best practice across the industry.
