Information Governance Officer

Job Introduction

An opportunity has arisen to join Information Governance at Staffordshire County Council as part of a forward thinking and innovative team at an exciting time of information management development. The role has a competitive salary, offers flexible and home working and could be offered as a secondment opportunity.

We are looking for a motivated individual, who is experienced in information governance and records management, to play an integral part in the implementation of our Information Management Strategy and be involved in our programme of work migrating to M365.

It is a varied role which involves supporting all service areas within the organisation, providing guidance, support and advice regarding data protection and information management. It will require an organised and enthusiastic individual who is confident in providing expert advice and policy development.

Main Responsibility

As an Information Governance Officer you would be required:

  • To provide input into, the information governance elements of M365 and the SCC digital programme of work
  • To provide support in delivering information governance across SCC
  • To provide input/lead on information governance elements of service projects and initiatives
  • To champion and support the information asset and assurance program of work
  • To investigate information governance breaches and failures and work with services to develop practice/process improvements
  • To audit and review processes for information sharing with partners and commissioned services
  • Develop and promote information governance resources and provide appropriate training
  • To provide and develop support and guidance to ensure information assurance of SCC information practices

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be experienced in information governance; they will have the knowledge, and are at ease, with actively supporting and championing information management best practice, applicable legislation and national standards across the organisation.
