Job Introduction
This is a really exciting time to be joining the ICT team here at Staffordshire. Using state of the art network equipment, we are about to embark on a redesign of the wider network with our partners and you will be key to making that happen.
As a Technical Team Leader in our network and security team, ,you will have the skills, knowledge and drive to help us manage our internal network and to help redesign our public sector network in conjunction with Suppliers and Health and Local Authority partners.
The role will require both technical skill and supervisory experience, managing the business as usual, incident and project activities for a team of network and security specialists.
In addition, you will be working with other technical architects and staff within ICT as well as suppliers and various partners. You will help to standardise our approach to network management and to shape the roadmap.
This role will also be expected to help with major project activities, which currently include migration of on premise services into a cloud environment. If you would like to increase your cloud knowledge to an architectural level then this would be an excellent project to join, with appropriate training provided where necessary.
Main Responsibility
You will be responsible for the development and management of all directly reporting staff, the development and continuous improvement of the Technical Area for which they are responsible and the associated operating policies and procedures.
You will manage and ensure the effective 7 x 24 operation of the delivery of ICT Services making sure they are highly performing and available and valued by customers.
You will proactively manage the workload of the team ensuring that business as usual activities are managed and co-ordinated and that all proactive activities are completed in line with agreed procedures and service levels, ensuring requested work is actioned in a timely manner and in line with agreed standards and organisational policies.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for you to have:
- proven, significant experience of enterprise scale networks, connectivity to cloud environments, and on premise data centre networks
- experience in the following technologies currently in use - Cisco, Checkpoint, Netscaler, and Microsoft Teams, covering network, security and telephony services
If you have experience in the above technologies and would like to move into an architect role, training and development is available.
We also offer agile working with a mixture of working from home and in the main Staffordshire County Council office in Stafford.
