Job Introduction
Staffordshire Archives and Heritage are looking for an enthusiastic person to work as part of our public services team working directly with members of the public and volunteers. You will be responsible for the supervision of the searchroom, welcoming visitors, including dealing with any enquiries/orders both in person and by telephone or email and retrieving items from the strong rooms.

Main Responsibility
You must be able to demonstrate a high commitment to the delivery of an excellent public service. You should also have a flexible and methodical approach to work, excellent communication, including the ability to convey complex information verbally, good interpersonal and team working skills and experience of family and local history sources.
A minimum of one years’ experience of working in a record office, library or similar customer-based environment would be preferred.
The Ideal Candidate
As a History Centre Assistant you will need to have:
- Experience of working directly with the public
- Experience of working in an archive or heritage organization
- Demonstrate a high standard of literacy, numeracy and accuracy
- Experience of using family and local history sources
- Experience of using Microsoft applications
- Experience of using the internet particularly family and local history websites
- An interest in history
- An understanding of good customer care/visitor experience
