- Working with the bus operators to improve public transport in line with the National Bus Strategy and local Bus Service Improvement Plan
- Ensuring that transport commissioned and managed by the Council is safe, suitable and operationally efficient.
- The decarbonisation of transport through the delivery of the Council’s Electric Vehicle Strategy
- Encouragement of walking and cycling as a viable and attractive option
Main Responsibility
You'll lead and manage the Transport Operations and Future Connectivity Team, ensuring that each member feels part of a healthy and high performing team
In addition you will lead, commission and manage a wide range of strategic initiatives including:
- the safe and cost-effective delivery of home to school transport for all eligible pupils in Staffordshire.
- a multi-million pound annual transport operation and travel concession budgets, ensuring accurate in year reporting and undertaking effective 5-year budgeting across all transport budgets.
- the development of transport funding bids which fit with the Council’s strategic aims and delivery of the same
The Ideal Candidate
You’ll have already developed strong management skills and be ready to make the next step to a more senior role taking on additional responsibility and accountability.
You’ll also have significant experience in commissioning transport operations and developing and implementing connectivity projects.
You'll also have resilience and the ability to multi-task in a fast pace and at times challenging environment working with customers, multiple stakeholders (including local members) and having a clear focus on agreed objectives.
