Financial Information Officer

Job Introduction

An opportunity has arisen for a Financial Information Officer to join a dynamic and motivated Accountancy team on a permanent basis, helping Staffordshire to face the issues currently challenging local government. The post can be hybrid working (working from home and office based in Staffordshire Place 1, Stafford).

Our Accountancy Division provides a range of services with the aim of providing strategic financial advice, securing the stewardship of assets, supporting effective decision making and enabling good financial management.

The post sits in part of a friendly and approachable team within the Decision Making Support Unit.

 

Main Responsibility

  • Prepare budget estimates (using simple tools, e.g. salary modeller) to support Corporate Finance and Decision Making Support Partners
  • Assist in maintaining financial system processes, coding hierarchies and control arrangements to provide accurate budget records.
  • Process accruals, prepayments, advances, transfers to/from reserves and provisions in the authority's financial system
  • Monitor the integrity of budget records to ensure accurate reporting of spending

 

The Ideal Candidate

Applicants should be AAT qualified with a minimum of two years experience working in a financial environment (candidates without the AAT qualification who can demonstrate relevant experience will be considered).

The successful candidates will be practiced in the production of accurate financial information and will have a good understanding of business processes and controls.

Applicants must have good numeric and literacy skills, be effective in their use of spreadsheet and word-processing tools and capable of retrieving and manipulating information for the production of reports.

The role requires the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues across disciplines and to work flexibly and creatively to meet changing priorities.
