Early Education and Childcare Development Officer

Job Introduction

An exciting opportunity to make a difference to children in their earliest years has arisen in the Early Education and Childcare Team. The team is welcoming, supportive and passionate about providing an outstanding service to Staffordshire families and early education providers. You will be developing policies and strategies to ensure early education and childcare statutory duties are met and working with partners to develop and embed new initiatives.

This is a new, developing role and offers the opportunity to bring your enthusiasm, knowledge and understanding of the early years sector to our forward thinking team.

Main Responsibility

As an Early Education and Childcare Development Officer, you will be:

  • Informing, influencing and implementing policy and strategy to ensure all early education and childcare related statutory duties and policies are met.
  • Working in partnership with early years settings and a range of partners, to further develop projects and plans that focus on improving outcomes for children.
  • Leading, developing and implementing new initiatives in relation to childcare and early education.

The Ideal Candidate

You'll need to be/have as a minimum:

  • Educated to degree standard or a similar level of qualification
  • Will have substantial experience of working in the early education and childcare sector and/or experience of supporting the early education and childcare sector
  • Will be an enthusiastic team player who is committed to working with others to improve outcomes for children through effective teamwork.
  • Will be a self -starter and effective communicator with the ability to build respectful relationships with a range of partners and stakeholders.
  • Will be a confident decision maker and have a sound knowledge of statutory duties and relevant legislation relating to early years and childcare
  • Experience of leading early years and childcare related initiatives, pilots and projects from initiation through to completion, including the delivery of presentations and briefings to a range of stakeholders
  • The post is subject to a DBS check

In terms of flexible working, we do work flexibly in this role both onsite and remotely from home but with this in mind you must be able to attend team meetings and collaborative working sessions in Stafford and attend weekly meetings in Staffordshire more widely when visiting Education settings. Please note: this role is not a term time only role.
