Driver/Library Assistant

Job Introduction

Our Library Service is a ‘statutory service’ and is delivered across the County via 43 static libraries and a mobile library service. Our libraries are open for a total of 1,582 hours per week, attract nearly 5 million visits a year and issue 4.5million loan items.

Main Responsibility

You'll be :

  • working as part of the libraries delivery team  and you will deliver to multiple drops across the county, including deliveries /collections to branch libraries and SCC partners.
  • carrying out daily vehicle checks and basic vehicle maintenance, keeping your vehicle clean etc.
  • may be asked to possibly provide occasional leave cover on the mobile library.

The Ideal Candidate

You'll have:

  • a LGV - Class C or C + E driving licence ( required for mobile library relief)
  • a Driver Qualification Card
  • ability to demonstrate you can work as part of a team but also on your own initiative
  • the ability to manage your time
  • basic computer skills
