Job Introduction

Are you passionate about access to Staffordshire’s great outdoors?

Staffordshire’s 4,500 km network of public paths link people and communities to every corner of the county’s beautiful countryside, providing access to the many health and wellbeing benefits of spending time in the great outdoors.

By joining our passionate and driven team you’ll play a vital role in helping us become a leading authority in rural access and path management and driving forward our exciting plans for the path network.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic project manager to deliver a programme of service improvement that will involve researching, gathering data and collaborating with both internal teams and external partners to identify best practice.

The work is fast-paced and will require you to prioritise tasks effectively to meet service needs.

This is a two-year fixed term appointment working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday and the role is hybrid with the main base at Stafford.

In this role you'll:

  • Deliver a prioritised programme of improvement involving research, gathering data and working with internal teams and external partners to identify best practice.
  • Review and develop clear, high-quality documents for both internal use and the public, such as policies, procedures and guidance.
  • Contribute to the development of software tools and applications that support our business needs to account for new business process workflows.
  • Ensure highway asset management principles including high quality and consistent highway data is factored into solutions.
  • Assist with procurement, contract management and funding applications.
  • Support team members to help them implement solutions.

The Ideal Candidate

You will have:

  • A relevant degree or similar experience in agile project management and business improvement.
  • Experience in improving services including drafting policies, business processes, procedures and operational systems.
  • Knowledge of managing highways including relevant laws and regulations.
  • Ability to challenge current working practices, promote creativity and solve problems using innovative methods.
  • Experience of successfully implementing change and embedding new ways of working.
  • Able to work independently with strong planning and organisational skills and the ability to quickly adjust to changing priorities.
  • Enthusiastic, driven, self-motivated and focused on making effective solutions work.
  • Proven skills in collaboration, networking and communication.

Interviews will be held on Friday 7 February 2025 and will involve a presentation.
