Job Introduction

Communication Support Worker - Autism Inclusion Team (permanent, part time)

Salary: £27,803 - £31,364 per annum (pro rata)

We are looking to appoint a part time peripatetic Communication Support Worker (0.8 - 26 hours) as from February 2024.  Applicants will need to have experience of working with Autistic young people and have a comprehensive knowledge of Autism friendly approaches and adjustments.  The role entails team work with Teacher and CSW colleagues working in Mainstream settings from Nursery to Post 16, advising staff and parents and providing support for Autistic pupils. GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths is essential.

 The role initially will be predominantly in Stafford, Stone and Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Main Responsibility

Under the direction of the Specialist Teacher, as a Communication Support Worker you will:

  • Have day to day responsibility for a designated caseload of Autistic children / young people within a variety of settings, which may include high school resource bases.
  • Co-ordinate, plan, advise, deliver and review a range of Autism specific interventions.
  • Work closely with education staff in an advisory role to support inclusion within the classroom/setting.
  • Deliver Autism specific training to a range of settings.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and committed Communication Support Worker who will work within education settings to support a high quality, inclusive educational experience for Autistic children/young people.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced teaching assistant/Communication Support Worker, who has extensive experience of working with Autistic children/young people in education settings and a passion for inclusion, enabling all children to flourish and grow.
