Clerical Assistant (Together4Children)

Job Introduction

We have an opportunity for a business support role in the Adoption Service in conjunction with the Together4Children Permanency Partnership.

Together4Children is an innovative partnership between Shropshire Council, Staffordshire County Council, Stoke-on-Trent City Council and Telford & Wrekin Council. We are the Regional Adoption Agency for the four councils. We also provide other services and initiatives that support children’s permanency.

Our ambition is to ensure that children who come into local authority care and are not able to return to their parents, achieve permanence within loving families without unnecessary delay.

This role is employed by Staffordshire County Council with duties across the Together4Children Region.

Main Responsibility

You will:

  • provide administrative support for the social work teams, undertake a range of clerical duties including answering telephone calls and dealing with general queries.
  • support formal meetings, including organising venues, issuing invites and minute taking, the production of accurate records and the distribution of reports within agreed timescales.
  • maintain and monitor computer-based information systems for input and retrieval of data, 
  • assist with day to day financial transactions within the office, including cash handling, placing orders for services or equipment, ensuring payment of accounts
  • produce documents including letters, reports, tables, presentations and publications. to a high standard of accuracy 

The Ideal Candidate

You will :

  • have a NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration or equivalent 
  • have knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience of using computer based information systems 
  • have experience of minute taking
  • be able to work within a team
  • have a flexible approach and be able to respond to changes and reprioritise  work at short notice
