Cabinet Executive Assistant

Job Introduction

We are recruiting for a Cabinet Executive Assistant 37 hrs a week Monday - Friday permanent based in the Cabinet Office in County Buildings Stafford (with the opportunity for home working.)

The role sits within the Business and Executive Support team who offer a range of administrative services to the organisation and is flexible to meet demand and support the delivery of the service priorities.

This role will be providing all aspects of high level, confidential support to our County Council Cabinet Members and Cabinet Support Members. 

The Cabinet is made up of the Leader and Deputy Leader who are elected by the majority party, currently Conservative and nine other Councillors who are chosen by the Leader.  Each of the nine Cabinet Members has an individual area of responsibility also known as his or her portfolio.  Currently there are two Cabinet Support Member who have a designated area of responsibility reporting to the Cabinet Member for Health and Care and the Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport.

Main Responsibility

To provide a full-bespoke professional Executive support service to members of the Cabinet

  • ensuring efficient and effective support,
  • proactively anticipating their needs and actions,
  • working with a high level of initiative, autonomy, and confidence
  • to act independently in the best interest of the Cabinet Member(s) with minimal supervision.

The Ideal Candidate

You will be:

  • a strong team player to work closely with colleagues within the Cabinet Office to ensure high level support to Cabinet Members is always maintained.
  •  self-starting, well-motivated and a strong communicator who is comfortable to work/engage across all levels of the respective organisations – locally, regionally, and nationally. 
  •  be flexible when required to address business need across the organisation.
