Job Introduction
Staffordshire County Council Brokerage Service is seeking passionate individuals with experience in adult social care settings. Our Brokerage Service plays a crucial role in sourcing care and support services to meet assessed needs while achieving best value for taxpayers.
We are entering an exciting new phase, brokering appropriate and supportive services to meet the needs identified by Assessing Teams. This involves direct engagement with citizens, their family members, carers, or representatives regarding service offers and arranging timely commencement of care and support services. We are looking to recruit skilled Brokerage Liaison Officers who can manage comprehensive information, handle conflicts in line with Council policies, and manage a busy caseload with associated risks.
To better support the people of Staffordshire and our partner agencies we cover a Saturday (10am - 3pm) on a rota basis - this is currently approximately every 12 weeks. We also cover bank holidays as needed, this is usually on a rota/volunteer basis.
Main Responsibility
In this role you'll:
- Source care and support using digital systems and direct provider contact.
- Negotiate price and quality for services including residential and nursing care, home care, extra care, day care, and carer support.
- Collaborate closely with Council commissioners, commercial units, and quality assurance teams to identify and resolve market capacity gaps.
- Provide care providers with information on future and present demand.
The Ideal Candidate
You'll:
- Be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Have experience in adult social care settings (desirable but not essential).
- Have an understanding of legislative and policy context (Care Act).
- Have ability to manage caseloads and associated risks.
- Be experienced in liaising with a wide range of stakeholders and directly with citizens.
- Be skilled in handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Have ability to work under pressure, manage competing demands, and prioritize tasks.
- Have knowledge of data security requirements and compliance with policies and procedures.
- be committed to providing high-quality, customer-facing services.
Skills Required:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for managing complex conversations and establishing care and support.
- Ability to prioritise and manage risks, with strong organisational skills for handling caseloads.
- Understanding of citizens' needs and aspirations, and ability to respond to family dynamics.
- Proficiency in IT systems, compliance with policies, and high accuracy in recording information.
- Resourcefulness, resilience, and problem-solving skills for identifying opportunities and working collaboratively.
Work Model: We offer a hybrid work model that supports a good work-life balance. A minimum of 2 days in the office is required, with the remaining days as home working.
