Assistant Sensory Support Co-ordinator

ASSIST is part of the Specialist Teaching Support Service which provides access and support for people who have hearing/vision loss.  ASSIST has a focus on supporting adults in community, workplace, further and education settings. 

Main Responsibility

You will help with the day-to-day running of ASSIST from the office base in Stafford, and will have the opportunity to develop specialist skills, knowledge and understanding in relation to sensory impairment. 

You will work alongside the ASSIST Project Co-ordinator, Sensory Support Co-ordinators and a fellow Assistant Sensory Support Co-ordinator to develop, organise and support the post-16 work the service delivers.

Along with your office-based colleagues, you will co-ordinate and support the staff members who are working all over the County providing the in-person support.

The Ideal Candidate

You must have:

  • Experience in administration or equivalent qualification
  • NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration or high-level computer skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Hearing and vision impairment knowledge would be useful; however, specialist training will be provided in this area if you do not have this knowledge.
