Accounts Receivable Team Leader

It’s a great time to come and join the Finance team at Staffordshire County Council.  Our newly appointed Director of Finance has ambitious plans for the future and this role can help to put those plans into action

An opportunity has arisen to join our Accounts Receivable team, helping Staffordshire to face the issues currently challenging local government.

Our Accounts Receivable team provides a range of services with the aim of achieving the efficient and effective collection of income and the enablement of good financial management.

Main Responsibility

You will lead the Debt Recovery Team, whose role centres around the timely collection of accounts due and includes:

  • Manage a team of staff including co-ordination of work plans, monitoring performance and identifying appropriate development opportunities.
  • Develop and co-ordinate provision of exchequer functions through a team
  • Responsible for the efficient operation of the income system support arrangements.
  • Ensure the resolution of queries relating to the income system from all customers
  • Offer advice and support to staff on the basic functions of the authority’s financial systems, to ensure efficiency of operational processes.
  • Supporting the Income Manager and deputising for them in their absence

The Ideal Candidate

You'll be:

  • an effective team leader with at least two years of experience working in a financial function and have a sound knowledge of debt recovery processes and procedures.
  • have good numeric and literacy skills and be effective in the use of Office 365 and in particular capable of retrieving and manipulating information for the production of reports.
  • have ability to communicate effectively with colleagues across disciplines and to work flexibly and creatively to meet changing priorities.
